In April of 2018, Courtney graduated from Eastern Michigan University for the second time with a Masters in Art in Higher Education Student Affairs with an Academic Advising Certificate.

Currently, Courtney is a 2nd year Doctoral Student in Educational Leadership at Central Michigan University. Her research focuses on Integrating Hip Hop Culture and Urban Education, as well as storytelling and using current events as teaching methods in the realm of Education. Courtney has a sub interest in leadership development among urban education and students of color, community development and mental health amongst black communities as well as study abroad opportunities as transformational leadership and cultural awareness.

Aside from Graduate School, Courtney is an Educational Consultant providing services to more than four educational institutions in the Metro Detroit Area. Her philosophy includes meeting all students where they are mentally, academically and personally as well as showing her true authentic self. In her years of work, Courtney has observed that when you share personal experiences and stories with students they have a sense of who you are and why you wish to assist them. In her very short spare time, Courtney works on building transition curriculum for students of color graduating from the K-12 system as well as building a solid foundation for Be Mentally Rich which serves as a hub for all things aiding in Courtney’s mission to increase and encourage generational wealth.

As a Child, Courtney watched her father educate masses through the Detroit Public School system and serve as a mentor for many of the students he encountered. Courtney also watched her mother sacrifice many of her own personal dreams to make sure Courtney had as many resources and platforms needed to fight against all of the statical pressures placed upon her by society. Courtney hopes to one day serve urban communities through large community development efforts targeting the population that often goes unnoticed, Youth. Through these efforts Courtney hopes to establish three things: Capability. Sustainability and Possibility.
